Božena Jelínková-Jirásková, 1880-1951
Bouquet, around 1930
Oil on canvas
In addition to landscape paintings and genre scenes, Božena Jelínková-Jirásková also painted still life paintings with floral motifs. Bouquet was created between the late 1920s to early 1930s, when the artist’s already fully mature, artistic creative style had been formed in opposition to the artistic Avant-Garde and was coming closer to a more traditionally understood realistic style of painting. The floral composition captures the natural beauty of living plants and was painted with immense sensitivity and a highly developed sense of colour.
